When the word »award« is mentioned in the news, the first thing that comes to mind is certainly the glamorous Oscar or Golden Globe award ceremony with a red carpet and lots of paparazzi. Even though they are less glamorous and without a red carpet, awards are also presented for special achievements in e-commerce. We give you an overview of some of the best-known online shop awards in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
E-Commerce Awards: Why You Should Participate
But why should you and and your company apply for an award? It costs time and money, after all. Well, that is true. Of course, such an application is not for free, but it pays off: first of all, applying for an award reflects what every company urgently needs apart from capital: feedback. Feedback from industry experts. And this alone is often worth more than its weight in gold. Furthermore, winning an award ensures positive publicity without spending thousands of euros on ads and campaign planning.
At the award ceremony itself, you also have the opportunity to network with other companies and to exchange views and ideas. Taking part in an award thus pays off! But which awards do even exist in e-commerce? Here is a selection:
E-Commerce Awards: Shop Usability Award
Since 2008, the most user-friendly online shop has received the »Shop Usability Award« Every year, more than 700 companies apply. Therefore, the Shop Usability Award is one of the biggest digital awards in the DACH region.
E-Commerce Awards: Deutscher Digital Award (German Digital Award)
A German award that is dedicated to numerous other categories besides usability is the »Deutscher Digital Award«. Prizes are awarded in ten main categories and around 31 subcategories. Categories are for example mobile apps and digital commerce. The awards have already been presented for six years. This year’s award ceremony takes place in Berlin on the 23rd of April.
E-Commerce Awards: INTERNET WORLD BUSINESS Shop Award
This year, the best online shop is chosen at the »INTERNET WORLD BUSINESS Shop Award« for the tenth time. In the past few years, renowned shops such as Zalando, MediaMarkt and mymuesli have been among the candidates. This year’s award ceremony takes place in Munich on the 9th of March.
E-Commerce Awards: E-Commerce Germany Awards
At the E-Commerce Germany Awards, not only the best online shops, but also agencies, tools and many more have the opportunity to sweep awards. For example, awards are presented in the categories »Best Sales Generating Tool«, »Agency of the Year« or »Best Payment Provider«. This year’s award ceremony takes place in Berlin on the 12th of February.
E-Commerce Awards: Digital Commerce Awards
The »Digital Commerce Awards« are special because only applicants that also offer their services in Switzerland can win prizes. However, shops from the entire DACH region are allowed to participate. Awards are presented in many different categories. Besides awards for B2B user experience or B2B services, companies can also win prizes in innovative categories such as start-ups or sustainability. Just like Klarna or American Express, dotSource is one of the sponsors and promotes the »Digital Commerce Awards«. This year’s award ceremony takes place in Zurich on the 6th of May – it marks the ninth edition of the »Digital Commerce Awards«!
E-Commerce Awards in B2B: B2B Digital Awards
While B2B is only one category amongst many at most digital business awards, the »B2B Digital Awards« exclusively dedicate various categories to the B2B industry because the complex requirements that online shops have to fulfil in B2B cannot be represented by a single category. The awards are presented as part of the B2B Digital Masters Convention in Böblingen on the 10th of November.
E-Commerce Awards: What Really Counts
If you want to reward your company and its employees for good work, you should not be afraid to fill in the application form for an award. Apart from the awards presented in this article, there are many more interesting prizes – both in the DACH region as well as internationally. Registering for awards pays off!
