Handelskraft is the corporate blog of the e-commerce agency dotSource. More happens in our offices in Jena (the city of light) than just shop development. Whether we get to greet the 100th staff member or introduce a new team: in-house events at dotSource are tagged with “Internal” and we are happy to let our readers be a part of it. In-house white papers or the popular e-commerce trend book from Handelskraft are also introduced via the category “internal”.
Selling glasses online is a complex business, and there is now serious competition among classic traders and pure players, even in this initially controversial business model. Occasion enough for 4Care, one of Europe’s leading omni-channel providers of contact lenses, care products, and classes, to do a general overhaul of their fleet.
The migration to Intershop 7.3, the implementation of a responsive design, as well as a design merger of Lensbest and their partner sites, were important project goals. 4Care found a strong partner in us for this project.
The optimisation of the product data structure and the connected import and staging processes, as well as creating a new system landscape for the operation of the platform was also part of the project. This was no exercise for beginners, but we managed to master this complex project with success:
The shortage of skilled workers in IT is not a new complaint. Even digital natives answer questions about their desired profession with classics like teacher or lawyer. In order for this to change and to create an awareness for new, digital professions, we at dotSource are putting our knowledge to use: for instance through the foundation of an e-commerce degree at the technical university in Jena. Since this week, our CEO Christian Otto Grötsch has been a testimonial for an IT career information flyer at the federal employment agency, Bundesagentur für Arbeit.
So if you want to know what career path brought Christian to the point of founding our agency almost ten years ago, you can now inform yourself officially. Naturally you can pass it on to school and university students who have a career with a future in their sights.
2014 was a productive year for us. Apart from the annual Trend Book, a total of seven white papers on e-commerce and online marketing topics were published. They are all exclusively designed for manufacturers, shipping traders and publishers, and can be requested on our home page free of charge.
E-Commerce is still new territory in B2B. However, there is great potential for manufacturers and traders there. Companies, who are already building up their e-commerce competencies will benefit in the long term. In our white paper »”E-Commerce Potential in B2B”« we answer the question, what e-commerce can do for brand manufacturers and industry.
Today we want to wish all our readers a happy holiday time with their loved ones. The Handelskraft team also wants to say thank you for your loyalty and we are already looking forward to the trends, hypes and new developments in the e-commerce scene in 2015
Not only the Handelskraft team, but the entire dotSource also wishes you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Thuringia (and especially Jena) doesn’t have to hide! That much was clear after the last Handelskraft e-commerce breakfast for 2014. Together with 15 local traders and manufacturers, we discussed the future of e-commerce with Jochen Krisch. We talked about more than just Amazon or even e-commerce in general.
After all, the challenges are growing well beyond the framework of e-commerce. All businesses have to address the topic of digitalen Transformation and the discussion has long included areas such as online marketing or data management. The cross-overs are increasing on the technical and strategic levels and the direction this journey could take is demonstrated by branch trail blazers, such as “About You.”
What drives traders and manufacturers in an Amazon world? Which USPs can you still trump with? The Handelskraft breakfast in Zurich was a platform for lively conversation on the challenges of an Amazon world. Online shop operators in Switzerland also have to prepare for the possible entrance of Amazon. We were privileged to great well-known representative, for instance from Studerus.ch or Brach.ch. Our camera man was there this time and captured the relaxed atmosphere perfectly.
Happily, e-commerce is not limited to German speaking countries, but is a global branch. This is why reaching English speaking Handelskraft fans in the future is so important to us. We are now regularly publishing articles on Handelskraft.com with the help of our professional translator Ruth Barratt-Peacock.
